Free Realms production jobs
In Free Realms it's your world. You're not restricted by any class or job since you can pick whichever job you want to play and when. Last time I looked at the combat in Free Realms in a general sense. We saw that, even though it's simple, it could be fun. This time we're going to look at the production jobs of Free Realms.
First of all, let's look at the division of the jobs. Combat jobs are Archer, Brawler, Medic, Ninja, Warrior, and Wizard (a Druid is soon to be added). Production jobs are Blacksmith, Chef, and Mining. maple story mesos, And Non-combat jobs are Card Duelist, Demolition Derby Driver, Kart Driver, Pet Trainer, and Postman. So, in this article we're looking at three of Free Realms jobs; Blacksmith, Chef, and Mining.
Since Free Realms is free-to-play some jobs require a membership to play. A membership is $4.99/month USD. Only one of the three production jobs are members' only. The Blacksmith job can only be acquired by members. Chef and Mining are open to everyone regardless of membership.
Briefly, we'll look at each of the production jobs. We'll begin with Blacksmithing. Blacksmithing is the forging of weapons in Free Realms. And you may have already guessed that Blacksmithing works side by side with Mining. Lastly, we'll look at the Chef job. All contain mini-games that require you complete basic objectives with optional extra objectives.
Blacksmithing
This job is mainly comprised of one mini-game. That mini-game is to find a forge and make a weapon or tool. However, you need smelted ore to make items and a vendor to provide you with additional materials. This mini-game is consists of a tile matching game where you work to get certain weapon tiles to the bottom of the grid. As you make different and more difficult weapons the grid will become more complex.
As a members' only job you're able to make many members' only weapons that are slightly better than other weapons. There's nothing game changing found in these weapon, but it's of importance to note that these weapons are a little better.
Mining
Mining includes a gathering mini-game and a smelting mini-game. Gathering can be done at nodes found at quarries and at nodes randomly placed in the world. The nodes found in quarries contain ore and common gems. Those found in the field are called rich nodes and contain ore and rare gems. As you level the mining job you gain access to new types of ore.
Level | Ore Type | Common Gem | Rich Gem |
1 | Copper ore | Turquoise | Malachite |
5 | Tin ore | Topaz | Garnet |
10 | Iron ore | Tourmaline | Amethyst |
15 | Silver ore | Onyx | Ruby |
20 | Gold ore | Moonstone | Fireagate |
You can easily find quarries on your map. Nodes out in the field that contain rich gems are something you can happenstance upon but each ore is found primarily in certain areas. When you decide to mine a node you'll be sent into another tile matching mini-game. In this mini-game the objective is to get rid of the rock and allow the ore and gems to fall into the baskets at the bottom. Match the like-colored rock to make it disappear and eventually the ore and gem tiles will reach the bottom.
Smelting the ore is up to the miner as well and requires you to do another mini-game. Thankfully, this isn't another tile matching mini-game. Smelting is comprised of breaking the ore down with a mallet, then heating the ore up, measuring it, and then pouring into its bar mold. In smelting, speed isn't your friend, patience is however. Take your time and you'll do well. Pouring the melted ore into the mold is where you can really mess things up. Again, go slowly but not too slowly while pouring and you'll smelt with maximum efficiency. If you do badly during smelting you could wind up with only 1 finished bar. If you do well you can end up with up to 5 bars per mini-game session.
Chef
The Chef job is really a gathering and production job mixed into one. As a Chef you'll harvest goods from farms and then cook them at cooking tables. The harvesting from farms includes the tile matching mini-game. This time you connect like tiles that are the food you're trying to harvest. If you get big enough chains of the food you want that food will be put into your basket at the bottom. It's still the tile matching game except that instead of making other tiles drop to the bottom you're trying to match many like tiles in order to remove them from the grid and keep them.
Cooking's other mini-game is often compared to the Cooking Mama titles. After you find a cooking table and obtain the ingredients you need for a recipe you can start cooking. Each recipe makes you do different things based off of the dish you're making. You can chop ingredients by left-clicking like a madman, you can smash nuts open with a mallet, you can flip food on a pan when it's just the right temperature, you can stir a pot full of food the appropriate amount of times and more.
There are items and clothes you'll acquire as rewards while you level each production job. These clothes and tools often make you better at the mini-games. For example, these items can increase the base amount of time you start with when entering a tile matching game.
Next time we'll look at the Non-combat jobs of Free Realms. These jobs are often known as freestyle jobs that really don't fall into either of the other titles. The mini-game that all these production jobs share; the title matching game, is actually found in some of the freestyle jobs as well. As you can imagine this gets redundant. Perhaps that's why there are so many jobs that you can play when you're tired of matching like tiles in order to make something fall to the bottom of the grid.
