The nodes appear on your map as a blue icon if they are further away from you, as you get closer it changes into an icon, and when you put your maple mesos cursor over it, it tells you what type of node it is (e.g. Rowan Wood/Bountiful Iron Mine etc.).
But remember to mine/forest these you need your crafting tool (Pick/Axe). You don’t gain any crafting experience for gathering the produce but then you can go to a crafting station and make something out of it (e.g. Treating it/ Boiling it etc).
Advancing to a 'Master' - After gaining crafting experience from crafting items, by using the required materials, tool and crafting station, when your experience points reach the maxium you have to do a crafting quest to get proficiency (not on gathering trades).
After doing that quest you will be iledgible to advance to a Master of that crafting tier in that trade.
After completing that quest, or just getting the maxium experience you will notice that the crafting experience bar has changed somewhat.
As you continue to make new items in this crafting tier your experience will go up the same as before. At the same time, you also get an experience bar for Journeyman proficiency.
